About Rob Burton Maritime Training - OOW Modules

Rob Burton Maritime Training was set up by Rob Burton after teaching OOW modules for over five years as a freelance lecturer.

RBMT aims to give the personal tuition that larger schools don’t offer. We teach our courses from a real world experience and practical point of view rather than just working with the same old powerpoints.

Rob has over 18 years experience in the maritime industry. Initially working as a dinghy sailing instructor before converting to become an RYA Yacht Master instructor at the age of 21 (At the time, he was the youngest ever RYA Yacht Master instructor).

Rob then worked on Super Yachts as a Master for 8 years in the Mediterranean, Caribbean, Red Sea, Baltic, USA, UK and other destinations.

He then started teaching OOW training modules and found it was a great combination of his previous training knowledge and his real world experience of working on yachts.

Rob started developing courses and questions which are still being used at MCA training centres today. Due to frequent requests to deliver personal or bespoke training for candidates, RBMT was formed to address that need.
